(HealthDay News) -- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) describes a host of conditions that cause the bowel's nerves and muscles to function abnormally.
The U.S. National Women's Health Information Center offers this list of common IBS warning signs:
- Abdominal cramps.
- Stomach pain.
- Abdominal bloating.
- Gas.
- Mucus in the stools.
- A change in bowel habits.
- Persistent constipation or diarrhea.
