Antioxidants
Antioxidants have numerous health benefits and assist the body’s defense against oxidation – damage caused by excess free radicals, the byproducts of normal call metabolism.

Vitamin E & Vitamin C
About half of all American Cardiologists take Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin C, another well-known antioxidant, helps recharge Vitamin E. Many research studies focus on these two vitamins and their relationship to protecting blood vessels from free radicals. One serving of Heart to Heart cereal provides 100% of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for Vitamin E and 50% of the RDI for Vitamin C.

Beta Carotene & Lycopene
Much research is being done on beta carotene and lycopene and their effects on hardening of the arteries. Beta carotene is commonly found in orange and yellow fruits and vegetables while lycopene comes primarily from tomatoes. Besides giving plants their bright colors, carotenoids (plant pigments) like beta carotene and lycopene have strong antioxidant activity. Per serving, Heart to Heart cereal gives you 25% of the RDI for Vitamin A in the form of beta carotene. Plus, they have added lycopene from tomato extract, the equivalent of eating 1 medium size tomato.

B Vitamins
Studies show there may be an association between high levels of homocysteine and increased risk of coronary heart disease. Vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid are essential to the breakdown of homocysteine, and amino acid formed in the metabolism of protein in the body. Heart to Heart cereal contains 100% of the RDI for these three important nutrients to help you meet your needs.

Soluble Fiber
Soluble fiber combines with water and forms gels in the digestive tract, which may lower your risk of cholesterol buildup. In a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, three grams of soluble fiber daily from whole grain oat foods, like Heart to Heart, may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of Heart to Heart cereal provides 1 g of soluble fiber from oats.

Green Tea
Green tea is grown in numerous countries around the world and is native to Southeast Asia. Although green tea has been consumed there for generations, it’s only over the last twenty years that research has begun to uncover the potential health benefits of this plant. Polyphenols, the components of green tea responsible for its characteristic color and flavor, have potent free radical neutralizing properties. Heart to Heart cereal is formulated with 100 mg of decaffeinated green tea extract per serving.

ActiVin® Grape Seed Extract
For thousands of years, wine has been used for medicinal purposes. But only recently have we learned that many of the benefits derived from wine may be attributed to compounds found in grape leaves and seeds. Grape seed extract contains powerful antioxidants called bioflavonoids that may help protect the body against the build up of fatty deposits on blood vessel walls. They have added 25 mg of ActiVin® grape seed extract to Heart to Heart. That’s equal to the antioxidant benefits gained from eating nearly a pound of grapes!
