The Inside Story

Klean Kanteen® is a family-owned business based in Chico, California and founded in 2004. Before Klean Kanteen, hydration bottles were made from polycarbonate plastic or lined aluminum. when they released the first Klean Kanteen, the health and environmental issues associated with those materials weren't widely known. But early studies raised concerns and caused them to doubt the safety and sustainability of the existing bottles on the market.

Every Klean kanteen® ever made is free of BPA and toxins. The founders of Klean Kanteen® wanted to give health conscious people a safe, eco-friendly alternative. Klean Kanteen uses high quality, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel to make all Klean Kanteen® products because it's superior to plastic and aluminum in both strength and safety.
