While synthetic hair dye works by "stripping" hair so chemical color can be absorbed into the shaft, henna hair dye naturally coats each strand with a natural, semi-permanent protein called hennatannic acid. Besides enhancing and deepening color, henna hair dye provides a protective coating, beneficial for split ends and other damage.

"A lot of hair color products claim to be natural but they are nasty chemical combos. This is 100% herbal. You reconstitute it with hot water and then basically you are putting a mud pack on your head, and the longer you leave it on the deeper the color. You can even leave it on overnight. It takes about 12 washings to completely come out. I have medium length fine hair and I only need about 1/5 of the box to do my hair once."

"The average american has not yet fully discovered the natural HENNA. Its a green powder and the longer you soak it in hot water the more color comes through. It is amazing and makes my hair fuller and conditioned and shiny when covering the gray. Be patient. Let this natural vegatable paste sit on your head for an hour, just wrap it up with a towel and read a book or something. You will love the results. Henna starts out reddish but gets darker with longer soaks. This is why the product also contains some indego (blue). if its too red you can always recoat with blue. no need to worry."
