How Does NSI® Artemisinin work?
Artemisinin is a compound derived from the sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua) plant, a common shrub native to Asia (where it's commonly known as qinghao) and grown in temperate regions throughout the world. It's widely used in China and Africa for its beneficial effects on immune health and is being increasingly recognized in the U.S. for its digestive health and free-radical fighting abilities.

Artemisinin is often recommended, along with black walnut and garlic extracts, for internal cleansing. Ayurvedic and other natural-health practitioners believe periodic internal cleansing is an ideal way to maintain overall good health. Improper diet, exposure to environmental toxins and sedentary lifestyle may all lead to waste buildup in the body, which can contribute to health complications from lack of energy to poor digestion. Certain herbs, like artemisinin, may have detoxifying effects, helping to cleanse the body for optimum health and vitality.

Artemisinin may also offer immune health-supporting benefits. The mechanism by which artemisinin works may be a result of the "peroxide lactone group" in its structure. When artemisinin comes into contact with unhealthy cells, the peroxide is believed to cause a chemical reaction that produces free radicals. These free radicals then attack the membranes and DNA of the unhealthy cells, leading to their destruction¹.

As a dietary supplement, take 1 capsule, one or two times daily or as directed by a physician.

Pregnant or Lactating women, diabetics, hypoglycemics, and people with known medical conditions and/or taking drugs should consult with a licensed physician and/or pharmacist prior to taking dietary supplements.

Long-term administration (greater than 1 month) should be monitored by a healthcare practitioner. Combining with antioxidants or iron may theoretically decrease effectiveness. Detoxification reactions may be experienced by some individuals.
