How does NSI® FloraGLO® Lutein work?
Lutein (pronounced LOO-teen) is a carotenoid (natural pigment) found in green leafy vegetables, corn and eggs. It functions as an antioxidant, protecting healthy cells from damage caused by free radicals, while also filtering out potentially-dangerous, high-energy blue light from the visible light spectrum.
After ingestion, lutein is deposited in the eyes, specifically in the macula and the lens. The macula, located in the center of the retina, is responsible for producing the sharp, central vision needed to see fine detail (for reading, sewing, etc.). Higher lutein levels may be associated with macular health.
NSI® FloraGLO® Lutein is manufactured using a patented purification process that creates a version chemically identical to that found in vegetables and eggs. It is the only lutein on the market designated GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) for food and beverage products. Studies recommend taking 6 mg to 20 mg daily for eye-health, antioxidant protection and more.
NSI® FloraGLO® Lutein is better because it:
| Amount Per Serving | % Daily Value | |
| Lutein (from 200 mg standardized 5% FloraGLO® lutein extract)(marigold flower) | 10 mg | * |
| Zeaxanthin (from 200 mg standardized .25% FloraGLO® lutein extract)(marigold flower) | 500 mcg | * |
