How Does NSI® L-OptiZinc® Work?
Zinc is an essential trace mineral, meaning it must be obtained through diet because the body cannot make enough of it on its own. Zinc is necessary for proper growth and development, and it's required for hundreds of body processes, from proper immune function to regulation of appetite, taste and smell.
L-OptiZinc® is a unique, patented form of zinc consisting of zinc bound to the natural and more bioavailable "L" form of methionine (l-methionine), the amino acid best absorbed by the body. Studies show that L-OptiZinc® is better absorbed and retained longer and is more effective than other forms of zinc tested.
L-OptiZinc® promotes proper:
Immune function
Nerve function
Reproduction, growth and development
Digestion
Eye health
Prostate health
Skin, hair and nail health
Testosterone levels
Zinc is also believed to have antioxidant properties, meaning it helps protect healthy cells from the potentially damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that result from natural body processes (such as digestion and exercise), but also result from environmental toxins (including ultraviolet light, radiation, cigarette smoking, and air pollution). Free radicals are believed to contribute to the aging process as well as the development of disease. Antioxidants, such as zinc, neutralize free radicals and help protect healthy cells.
The recommended daily dosage of L-OptiZinc® is 15 mg per day for men and women. Certain health issues, such as pregnancy, poor blood pressure health, poor prostate health and taking certain prescription medications, may increase the need for zinc supplementation. L-OptiZinc® should not be taken at the same time as iron or calcium supplements.
NSI® L-OptiZinc® is better because it:
Does not interfere with copper absorption, like other zinc supplements.
Is standardized to 20% zinc.
