How does NSI® Quercetin / Bromelain / Vitamin C work?
Quercetin is a plant-based nutrient (phytochemical) with antioxidant properties found in green tea, apple skins, onions and red wine. Quercetin works to inhibit the production and release of histamines. Allergens absorbed in the bloodstream cause B cells (white blood cells) to produce the allergic antibody IgE which is combined with mast cells and biophils and stored as histamine. As cell membranes weaken, histamine is released causing allergy symptoms such as runny nose and itchy eyes. Quercetin may help stabilize mast cell membranes to hinder the release of histamine into the bloodstream.
In this formula, quercetin is combined with bromelain for enhanced absorption. This digestive enzyme is found in the pineapple plant.
