How Does NSI® Rutin work?
Rutin is an antioxidant bioflavonoid found in plants, fruits, vegetables, nuts and buckwheat. It’s especially concentrated in citrus fruits (lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits) and their rinds.

Rutin is comprised of the flavonol quercetin and the disaccharide rutinose. Most of its beneficial effects can be attributed to its antioxidant activity. It helps scavenge harmful free radical molecules and may also help maintain levels of the antioxidant reduced glutathione. Rutin also has the ability to chelate metal ions, such as ferrous cations, which contribute to the generation of reactive oxygen species molecules.

Rutin may help strengthen and maintain elasticity of the blood vessels, especially capillaries, promoting healthy circulation to the extremities including the brain, hands and feet. It also helps maintain collagen integrity, promoting skin and visual health.

Rutin is also believed to inhibit the production and release of histamine, the chemical which triggers discomforts such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes and mucous production, from mast cells.
