Glucosamine is a compound naturally formed in your body from glucose. Your body uses this nutrient to stimulate chondrocyte cells to create one of the main building blocks of joint cartilage -- proteoglycans. Chondroitin sulfate -- a long chain of repeating sugars -- provides additional benefits.
