Every man over the age of 40 should be aware that the risks of poor heart, vascular and prostate health rise dramatically with age. Synergy Men’s Multi-Vitamin Version 3 delivers effective dosages of many nutrients that may promote cardiovascular and prostate health, as well as neurological, vision, bone and immune health, healthy glucose (sugar) levels, healthy cell growth and healthy aging.

For this new Version 3, the number of tablets has been decreased from 8 to 6 per day for convenience, yet the potency of the ingredients has been significantly increased. The new Version 3 also provides increased amounts of CoQ10 (almost seven times more), alpha lipoic acid (three times more), acetyl L-carnitine (five times more), green tea extract (five times more) and vitamin D3 (almost three times more). Furthermore, pine bark extract, pomegranate extract, red wine extract, resveratrol, and vitamin K2 have been added.

How Does Synergy Men’s Multi-Vitamin Version 3 work?

Prostate Health: Synergy Men’s contains zinc (30 mg as zinc methionine) and plant extracts of saw palmetto (320 mg) and pygeum (100 mg) that may improve symptoms of benign enlarged prostate. In addition, it has lycopene (10 mg as Lyc-O-Mato®), pomegranate extract (500 mg), selenium (200 mcg as selenomethionine) and vitamin K2 (45 mcg) which may protect from abnormal prostate cell growth.

Acetyl L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid & Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Approximately 95% of cellular energy production occurs in the mitochondria, the “power plants” found within each cell. Acetyl L-carnitine helps transport fats into mitochondria, increasing mitochondrial energy production. CoQ10 also increases the production of mitochondrial energy by transferring electrons. However, as we get older, this creation of energy also generates excessive amounts of free radicals that damage and noticeably decrease mitochondrial function. Alpha lipoic acid and CoQ10 are powerful antioxidants which can protect mitochondria from free radical damage.

The combination of acetyl L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid synergistically and markedly improves and protects mitochondrial energy production. Synergy Men’s has acetyl L-carnitine (1,000 mg), alpha lipoic acid (600 mg) and naturally fermented CoQ10 (200 mg) which may promote healthy aging their ability to, as noted above, help improve and protect the production of mitochondrial energy.  Human studies of acetyl L-carnitine, alpha lipoic acid and CoQ10 have each been reported to help protect cardiovascular and neurological health so combining these three antioxidants together may be even more beneficial.

Synergy Men’s provides other powerful antioxidants such as  quercetin (100 mg), resveratrol (100 mg), and extracts of red wine (50 mg), turmeric (100 mg as Curcumin C3 Complex®), grape seed (200 mg as ActiVin®), pine bark (200 mg), green tea (500 mg) and pomegranate (500 mg)which may also help protect cardiovascular and neurological health. Magnesium is important for heart and brain health as well as bone health. Synergy Men’s has 200 mg of magnesium.

Resveratrol (100 mg as ResveraPure®): Is an antioxidant that is highly concentrated in grape skins and abundant in red wine with a bottle of red wine usually containing approximately 1 to 10 mg of resveratrol. In animals, resveratrol has been shown to protect mitochondrial energy production, protect cardiovascular and neurological health, protect against abnormal cell growth, and lengthen lifespan. Animal studies and human epidemiological studies report that drinking red wine is associated with better heart and brain health and a longer lifespan. Synergy Men’s combination of resveratrol, grape seed extract and red wine extract may offer many of the health benefits of drinking red wine without the alcohol, calories or sulfites.

Pomegranate Extract: Is standardized as 80% polyphenols and 40% punicosides with a spectrum of powerful antioxidants which is similar to pomegranate juice. The 500 mg of pomegranate extract in Synergy Men’s probably has more antioxidant activity than drinking half a glass of pomegranate juice. This is important because human clinical trials have reported that drinking pomegranate juice daily improved cardiovascular health with improved blood flow through arteries.

Green Tea Extract: The 500 mg of green tea extract (standardized as 45% EGCG and 98% polyphenols) is approximately equivalent in antioxidant activity to drinking three cups of green tea. Many human epidemiological studies have reported that drinking three cups of green tea daily is associated with better cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.

Proanthocyanidins: Synergy Men’s has more than 360 mg of proanthocyanidins from grape seed extract and pine bark extract. These proanthocyanidins are amongst the most powerful antioxidants yet discovered. For example, 200 mg of ActiVin® Grape Seed Extract has a typical ORAC score of 1,800 to 2,600 units which is equivalent in antioxidant activity to three and a half to five servings of fruit. Pine bark extract has many beneficial effects including promoting cardiovascular health and joint health.

Vitamin K2: Animal studies have shown that vitamin K2 promotes healthier bones and helps reduce calcification in the arteries. Epidemiological studies in Germany, Holland and Japan have reported that people who eat a lot of vitamin K2 (approximately 45 mcg per day primarily from fermented cheese in western diets and fermented soybeans, known as natto, in Japanese diets) are associated with better cardiovascular health, including less calcification of arteries, stronger bones and less prostate abnormal cell growth. Synergy Men’s has a similar dosage (45 mcg) of vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-7 (MenaQ7™) from fermented soybeans, natto) which may promote cardiovascular, prostate and bone health. Animal and human studies report that only vitamin K2 (but not the routinely used vitamin K1) protects cardiovascular and prostate health. 

Blood Glucose Health: Synergy Men’s may promote healthy blood glucose (sugar) levels with chromium (400 mcg as ChromeMate®), biotin (2,000 mcg), alpha lipoic acid and magnesium. Alpha lipoic acid and resveratrol may protect the body from damaging effects of elevated glucose levels.

Vitamin D: Is important for cardiovascular function, bone health, immune function, neuromuscular function and protecting against abnormal cell growth. Synergy Men’s has an effective dosage (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3. 

Vision Health: Human studies report that lutein as well as the combination of zinc, vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene may protect vision. The combination of lutein together with other antioxidants was more effective for protecting vision. Human studies report that the combination of CoQ10, acetyl L-carnitine and omega-3 EPA and DHA (from fish oil) protects vision. Animal studies show that alpha lipoic acid and proanthocyanidins from grape seed extract and pine bark extract protect vision. Except for omega-3, Synergy Men’s has all of these antioxidants and may promote healthy vision.
