NSI® Three Tea Antioxidant Formula combines three different types of tea—green tea, black tea and white tea—to provide you with a wider range of antioxidant protection and maximum metabolism-enhancing benefits.
Green, black and white teas are all prepared from leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Different characteristics, such as color and flavor, are the result of how the leaves are processed once they're harvested.
Black tea undergoes a complex fermentation process that turns the leaves black and gives the tea its distinctive, strong flavor. Green tea undergoes less processing than black tea. It retains much of the plant's natural flavor and is also believed to have a higher concentration of antioxidant polyphenols than black tea.
White tea, which is made from is made from the tender, nutrient-rich bud at the tip of the plant, undergoes the least amount of processing. It's believed to contain even more antioxidants and deliver greater health benefits than green tea.
The active component in all three types of tea is a cathechin called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful antioxidant that may provide protection against the damaging effects of free radicals, which are unstable molecules that attack healthy cells, damaging membranes, mitochondria and DNA. Antioxidants, like EGCG, work to neutralize these harmful molecules, minimizing or preventing the chain reaction of damage they can cause.
NSI® Three Tea Antioxidant Formula contains high-quality, standardized tea extracts. Unlike other non-standardized tea supplements, this formula provides high percentages of the active constituents in each type of tea. Just two capsules daily provides 940 mg of polyphenols, 500 mg of catechins and 360 mg of EGCG.
