The Mulberry (Morus alba) grows on trees that has a short, thick trunk and wide spreading branches, and is slow growing to a height of 20 to 30 feet. It is native to Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey and Armenia, and is now cultivated in many parts of Europe. The tree produces a berry composed of a cluster of tiny, closed-packed mini-berries, each of which contains a seed. The dried fruit has a subtle, sweet taste and a slightly crunchy texture caused by the seeds.
