SAMe (S-adenosyl-l-methionine), is an enzymatic reaction of methionine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body's main energy molecule. SAMe occurs naturally in humans and is involved in over forty biochemical reactions in the body, unfortunatly SAMe levels decline with age. Therefore, supplementing with additional SAMe may protect the body from immune deficiencies. In addition, deficiencies in methionine, folate, and vitamin B-12 can lead to a reduction in SAMe levels.
Directions
As a dietary supplement, take one or two tablets daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Warnings
Individuals using standard antidepressants, such as MAO Inhibitors, SSRI's and tricyclics should consult a physician before using this dietary supplement. Individuals with Parkinson's Disease or Bipolar Disorder should not use SAMe. Pregnant or nursing women should consult with their physician before using this product.
The sodium content per tablet is basically negligible. It is less than 1 mg per tablet.
