Imagine a food so popular, an entire region's citizens come to be defined by it. For instance, imagine Seattlites instead being called "Coffeebeaners." Or Chicagoans renamed "Pizzaistas." Ridiculous? Perhaps. But consider this: Cannellini beans are so beloved in Tuscany — home of lovely Siena — that the Tuscan peoples' nickname is "mangiafagiole." Yep. Beaneaters. Not quite as elegant in English as in Italian. Yet there's something wonderful about being defined by the food you grow and love. We hope you'll feel as strongly about our blend of Cannellini beans, rice, peas and pasta. Even if you don't adopt it as a nickname.

Seeds of Change Siena Tuscan-Style Whole Grain Rice and Beans Directions

Stovetop Directions:
1. Combine rice, contents of seasoning packet, 2 cups of water and 2 Tbsp. of olive oil (optional) or sunflower oil (optional) into a medium saucepan. Stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil.

2. Reduce heat (medium-low), cover and simmer 22-25 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Stir occasionally during cooking to distribute flavors.

3. Remove from heat, stir and re-cover. Let stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.

Microwave Directions:
1. Combine rice, seasonings, 2 cups of hot water and 2 Tbsp. of oil (optional) in a microwave safe glass dish. Stir well.

2. cover and microwave on high power for 5 minutes. Stir half-way through cooking time to ensure uniform heating of the grains.

3. Reduce heat to medium (50%) for 24-28 minutes. Stir occasionally to distribute flavors.

4. Remove from microwave and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes. fluff with a fork before serving.
