1, You'll need a 2 quart sauce pan. Start with 6 cups of water. Turn the burner up to high and bring to a boil. Pour macaroni into the boiling water and give a gentle stir.
2. Reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir occasionally. simmer away for 7 minutes, or until the macaroni is just right. Drain into colander and then put macaroni back in the pan.
3. Add 3 tbsp of butter and 1/4 cup of milk. when the butter melts, add the contents of the cheese packet. Stir to your heart's content. Makes a total of 2.5 cups.
Microwave directions:
You'll need a 2 quart casserole dish, something that's microwave safe.
Pour in 1 3/4 cups of hot water, add macaroni and stir. Stick the whole thing in the microwave and cook uncovered on high for 7 minutes or until macaroni is tender. Hit the pause button about every three minutes and stir it gently. That will help it cook evenly and keep it from sticking to the bowl. When pasta is tender, add butter, milk and contents of the cheese bag. Mix well and serve liberally.
Chef suggests: Dollop on fresh salsa to make chili con queso mac. Stir in diced ham, chopped olives, tomatoes or chives. Sprinkle with sautee mushrooms. Top with sliced roasted Anaheim chilies. Use organic ingredients whenever possible.
