Description

A Natural Emulsifier

Lecithin is a natural substance found in cell membranes and is manufactured in the liver from dietary choline. It contains a mixture of phosphatides, including phosphatidyl choline, an important precursor to the main neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. In addition, the body utilizes lecithin both for the proper formation of bile (the body's main emulsifying compound), and as an emulsifying agent itself. As an emulsifier, lecithin helps in the absorption and utilization of fat-soluble nutrients, such as vitamins A, D, E and K.

"The first time I ordered these, I had no problem. This last order, the capsules were slimy like they were starting to melt. The customer support person said to put them in the refrigerator, then shake the bottle to separate them. I did this but once out of the frig they were again slimy. They can be returned for a credit, but it's not worth the cost of shipping them back. It's a great price if you don't mind the chance of them being slimy."

"I made the mistake of buying 3 of these, and completely wish I hadn't! The problem is that in every bottle the softgels are very slimy, which makes them stick in your week-containers. It also makes those containers dirty inside. Lecithin is a precursor for choline, so I recommend getting that instead.

Do have to say though, if you are going to get it, Vitacost gives the best value you can find."
