"Several years ago there were lots of xylitol-sweetened gum products coming onto the market but then one day most of them disappeared.

I'm not sure what happened with the mainstream gum industry and xylitol, but it has a lot to offer besides just being a safe sweetener. It has proven dental benefits and may even help reduce ear and upper respiratory infections because it kills bacteria. I don't know why any gum contains sugar anymore when there's xylitol around.

It's worth noting that I need two pieces of Spry to keep my mouth moist."
