"i used this with a 30 year old yogurt machine inherited from my mother and had no yogurt to use as starter @ the time. followed instructions and in time recommended had perfect yogurt! i will probably only use it when i forget to save yogurt for the next batch."

"I love making yogurt with this yogurt starter instead of store bought. I do not have or use a machine to make my yogurt. I use 1 quart Hot tap water, 1 1/2 cup powdered milk and this yogurt starter. I use a little lunch box size igloo to incubate my yogurt in for about 8 hours. I am on batch 4 of using 1 packet of starter. To use the made using your made up yogurt simply do everything the same except use 1/4 - 1/2 cup of your made up yogurt."

"I used to use grocery store yogurt for my starter and would get uneven results. Sometimes it would be stringy, maybe bitter. This is wonderful and easy to use. I am very pleased with it and best of all,

Yogourmet Freeze Dried Yogurt Starter Directions

Use 5 g of starter per litre or quart of milk.

Heat one litre or quart of milk to 82 deg C (180 deg F) or bring to boiling point. Then let cool down to 42-44 deg C (108-112 deg F).
Dissolve 5 g of starter with a small quantity of lukewarm milk in a cup, then pour back into the litre or quart of milk. Mix well.
Incubate 4 to 4 1/2 hours, or until yogurt has reached the desired firmness. May be used with any make of appliance, according to instructions. For best results, use a Yogourmet yogurt maker.
Refrigerate to stop incubation.

For Creme Bulgare follow the same instructions as for yogurt, using cream instead of milk.
