Fair Trade is more than paying fair wages and prices. It is also a commitment to communities and the environment. Since Alaffia's beginning, we have returned a minimum of 10% of all sales to West Africa to fund community empowerment projects aimed at alleviating poverty, enhancing education, improving gender equality and reducing the effects of climate change.

In Togo, only 14% of school-aged girls attend secondary school. Our Bicycles for Education project provides transportation and encouragement for girls to continue their educations and become future leaders. Since our first shipment in 2006, Alaffia has distributed over 3,000 bicycles to disadvantaged students in central Togo.
