I wasn't sure how this would taste, because we all are very particular about cake here, it is a favorite in our house and we don't like cheap, fake tasting, dried-out cake. But, since I am trying to choose all-natural, organic products whenever possible, I thought we would give this a whirl. If you are use to Duncan Hines cake mixes, then you will probably be disappointed with this. I hate to say it but the vanilla flavor in this cake almost seemed to have a fake, vanillin taste to me. SO, I added 2 teaspoons of Almond extract, and I used milk instead of water. I threw in some sprinkles for the kids and baked it in cupcake pans. It made exactly 24 cupcakes, they baked nicely and had a great sponge texture to them and perfect color as well. They held their shape even after cooling (didn't fall). I cooked them at 325 instead of 350 (my oven cooks hotter) for about 20 minutes. Let them cool 1 minute out of the oven then set them on a wire rack to cool. They do not taste at all like store bought cake, but we took them while still hot, cracked them open a little, and added a dollop of Land'O'Lakes all natural butter and they were delicious! Cooled I would say with some icing they would be ok too. My kids are use to quality cake, so I wasn't sure if this would pass with them, but it has. Makes me so happy to know I can give my family organic cake/cupcakes and there is no guilt (or chemicals!) Just remember, these are different tasting from the store-bought stuff, but if you add some almond extract, and maybe even a spoonful of butter extract or real vanilla extract it will be something you find you enjoy in your home. I will keep "playing" with this mix and see what else I can come up with. Even adding the extracts is nothing compared to all the additives in a boxed mix. A lot of that stuff you cannot even pronounce! I'm sure it will be a staple in our home now.

Delicious!
This cake mix has great flavor and I got great results with it. Love it not having chemical aftertastes. I used it in a dump cake recipe with peaches. Yum.

best organic vanilla cake mix
I have tried many organic cake mixes, this is by far the best, most moist cake mix of them all.....Also the vanilla can be made into many other cakes,such as lemon ,orange, pineapple etc. It is a really good cake mix....
