Bionaturae Organic Whole Peeled Tomatoes -- 28.2 oz
I've tried a number of different brands and this one is by far my favorite. I like that the tomatoes are packed in tomato puree. And the quality is consistently good. These don't have any added salt or calcium chloride, so they're definitely softer than some brands, but the tomatoes are all still whole in the can.

They do mean the whole tomato!
Very disappointed in these. I gave them 3 stars for not tasting bad, and for being organic. BUT, when they say whole tomatoes they mean it, right down to the upper and lower stem...all the dark spots and everything. My mom who canned hundreds of jars of tomatoes, always said you have to cut out the bad spots and the stems tops and bottoms, or they won't seal properly. Well I'm sure these are canned at such a high heat they didn't spoil, but I don't like my tomatoes with the stems and dark spots on them..Had to pick them out of my casserole! .:( Sorry, I won't be buying these again. :(

Makes a great sauce & low sodium
I like the naturally sweet flavor and that there is only 20 mg of sodium per serving compared to others that have 260 mg. I prefer to add my own salt when cooking.
I make sauce: Saute small onion in a couple of T olive oil and cook till onion is soft, add an optional clove of garlic cook for 1 min.,
add 1/2 to 1 tsp of salt & the tomatoes, 1/4 tsp dried red pepper for kick (or 1/8 or Cayenne), 1 tsp of dry basil or use a handful of fresh basil near the end of cooking so it does not lose flavor.
Break up tomatoes as they are cooking wit spoon. (You could also puree to desired consistency with an immersion blender after they have been cooking for awhile for a smoother sauce.
I also add a couple handfuls of chopped kale (stems removed) the last few minutes for added nutrition.
Serve over pasta and top with fresh Parmesan cheese! Delicious!
