Cultivated thousands of years ago, Barley is one of the oldest known cereal grains. It is a hearty, whole grain with a sweet nut-like flavor. Bob's Red Mill Rolled Barley is a good source of dietary fiber and protein. It makes a delicious and satisfying hot cereal and is a wonderful alternative to rolled oats in many recipes, such as cookies and breads.

 

Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.


Directions

Cooking Instructions:

Bring 2 cups water and ½ teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 1 cup Bob's Red Mill Rolled Barley Flakes and reduce heat. Cover and cook for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand for 2 minutes, then serve with milk and honey.

 

Microwave Instructions:

In large bowl, combine ¼ cup Bob's Red Mill Rolled Barley Flakes and ½ cup water. Microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Makes 1 serving.

versatile, and good for you bob's mill barley flakes is similar to rolled oats. I've put it in homemade bread, and it gives the bread a wonderful flavor.
