Much sweeter and more delicate in taste than common pintos or kidney beans, these beautiful Cranberry Beans are popular in Italian cuisine and often known as "borlotti" beans. They have a smooth texture and mild, nutty flavor. Perfect for salads, soups, stews and bean spreads. Excellent source of dietary fiber, protein, and iron.

 

Cranberry Beans are pretty, light-colored beans with cranberry colored markings. Use as you would pinto beans in chili or for baked beans.


Directions

Beans, peas and lentils are natural agricultural products. Despite use of modern agricultural equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse before cooking.

 

Soak beans overnight. Drain and rinse beans. Add 4 cups of water for every 1 cup of Cranberry Beans. Liquid should be 1-2" above top of beans. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer about 1 hour. Or pressure cook 8-12 minutes.

  • 1 cup of beans yield 2 - 2 ½ cups cooked beans.
  • Cooked beans can store up to 1 week in the refrigerator and up to 6 months in the freezer.

Keeps best refrigerated or frozen.

Delicious alternative to regular pinto beans! These beans are like pintos, but plumper and sweeter. They are also a bit more expensive, but worth the cost. One tip to quicker cooking: soak them overnight in one or two teaspoonfuls of baking soda, then throw away the soaking water and rinse well. The beans will cook much more quickly when you add bicarbonate of soda. Great product, and worth a try! April 29, 2013
Tasty as a stew Dr. Oz recommended these beans so I decided to give it a try. Very tasty. Soak overnight. Next day I cook them in the pressure cooker with chicken/vegetables. Family enjoyed it too. Recipe at the back of the package. October 5, 2012
