Bob's Red Mill Cranberry Heritage Beans -- 27 oz
I am trying to get away from BPA-lined cans, so I've started using dried beans more. These beans hold their shape well when cooked, and they have a mild but distinct flavor. I soak them overnight, rinse them well, and then my husband doesn't have so much of the... aftermath of beans. ;)

In the South We Call these October Beans
In the south cranberry beans are also known as October beans. They are great planted in the garden. Some mix October beans in with green beans to have a more "beany" texture to the green beans.
When we have fresh October beans (cranberry beans) I can them in pint jars along with a little salt and cumin. They are better than pinto beans in my opinion.
Dried cranberry (October) beans are another option in the winter when one can't buy fresh beans.
Dried beans are also great served with home- canned tomatoes over the beans. Cook the beans, open up a can of home-canned tomatoes and serve over top of the beans. You might want to put a pinch of sugar in the tomatoes.
Serve with cornbread! Yum!

Good full beans.
The beans are full with very few broken pieces unlike most raw beans that you buy in the grocery stores. Love Bob's products! And Vitacost has the best prices & service.

Yummy Cranberry Beans
The first time I purchased cranberry beans was at an Amish store in central Ohio, I really liked them!! I have purchased 2 more bags from Vitacost since then. I love the soft texture, they cook up faster than some other types such as pinto or black beans. They are a wonderful change of pace and I recommend them highly. They are also a fun topic of conversation because I have not met anyone yet who has heard of cranberry beans!!

Delicious alternative to regular pinto beans!
These beans are like pintos, but plumper and sweeter. They are also a bit more expensive, but worth the cost. One tip to quicker cooking: soak them overnight in one or two teaspoonfuls of baking soda, then throw away the soaking water and rinse well. The beans will cook much more quickly when you add bicarbonate of soda. Great product, and worth a try!
