The taste is ok. But at this price, you can not deny it is a good bargain.

Fresh and tasty
I'm always wary of buying hazelnuts because they usually taste "off" -- slightly rancid. Because they are so expensive, I usually request a taste first. I was so pleased to open the nuts and find they tasted as fresh as the ones that used to grow in my parents back yard. If you like salt and roasting , these aren't for you. But if you prefer the natural nut taste, these are wonderful. They would also be great in baking.
