Bob's Red Mill Potato Flakes -- 16 oz
Easy & Tasty Side Dish
Our family likes these quick mashed potatoes. I make it occasionally and always have it in my pantry. It's also easy to whip up a single serving.. I follow the directions, except I add a little more milk (I usually use organic whole milk) and a little more flakes, Adding a slice or 2 of American cheese makes it extra yummy. As far as prep goes, the consistency is up to you! Add more or less flakes or liquid to get it how you like it.

These are not very good if you are trying to make just mashed potatoes but I can see where they may be good in potato soup to thicken it or to crust something like chicken or to make bread. I even used more flakes to make thicker potatoes and they just weren't really appealing to me or the family.

Very unhappy with this product
We LOVE Bob's Red Mill products. We try new items every month. The potato flakes were terrible. We followed the recipe exactly as directed, the potatoes were extremely runny! It had the consistency of cream of wheat!! They were also very bland tasting. :( We will never buy again.

Nothing but potato flakes. Just add water, salt if you want it. Cream or butter if you want it. Or make it plain and put butter on top. Once hydrated you can store potatoes in the fridge and they don't taste like leftover potatoes. Add an egg and some flour and onion and make potato pancakes. My wife and I think they are so handy we have a bunch of packages on hand all the time. They don't taste just like cooked and mashed from scratch, but you would be surprised just how good they are. And no chemicals or additives. When we get home late, fix the mashed potatoes, scramble some eggs, have some sliced avocado. Fast and easy. My wife likes them thick, I like thinner mashed potatoes. However you like. :)
