About Goldenseal...

Goldenseal is a Native American herb introduced to the early settlers by the Cherokee Indians. It derived its name from its use as a dye, since anything it touches is turned a brilliant yellow. Our ancestors considered Goldenseal to be one of their most important medicinal herbs.

Today, Goldenseal can be found in the old deciduous forests of North America where there is good drainage and light, sandy soil.

In recent years, Goldenseal has been harvested from the wild almost to the point of extinction, and is now considered an endangered species. Because we want to preserve this valuable herb in its native habitat, this Goldenseal is grown on an organic farm.
