Cooksimple Tamale Pie Gluten Free -- 11.8 oz
Lots of flavor and easy to make with the kids
As a newly-gluten free mom (age 48) the last few months have been a journey of research, experimenting with new foods (many of them costly), swapping out the pantry and adding hours each week for specialized food shopping and home-cooking. As a single mom with a full-time job and two active teenage sons, time can be extremely limited. We found this mix to be tasty and quick to prepare with my preferred ground turkey. Second helpings were automatic so this was a hit for us! And, no leftovers...

Not a fan of the garbanzo bean flour...
I really like the Cowboy Chili by Cooksimple but I couldn't eat the Tamale Pie because of the garbanzo bean flour in the cornbread topping. I must be really sensitive to bean flours because the taste is overwhelmingly strong to me and all I taste is the garbanzo beans. I much prefer the Cowboy Chili and I make my own gluten-free cornbread muffins to go with it.

This product had great potential but like so many similar products, the manufacturer treats garlic like salt and assumes Americans are too dumb or too lazy to stock either at home or to add them to their food if they so desire. They also seem to be ignorant to the fact that a sizable portion of the population has garlic as a migraine trigger, which means when garlic is listed as an ingredient, people like me won't buy it if we see it in the list, and if we miss it in the label and eat the food, we get a migraine and pay the price.
