Desert Essence Gentle Nourishing Day Cream SPF 15 -- 2 oz
Loved it until the heat wave hit!
This moisturizer is thick, which is great for 40+ skin. It has a gentle, natural fragrance and truly moisturizes with one application. I needed to let it sink in before applying a foundation, so that's less convenient. My problem with it arrived with the intense 90 degree/90% humidity weather we got a few weeks ago, and I couldn't do anything (inside or out) without it literally melting off my face! It never had time to absorb and would just drip off - made me feel like a major sweat-bucket! Gross. So if you're in a dry, cool climate, go for it. I did love it when I started wearing it in the Spring. For heat and humidity though, no way.

Good, but heavy!
This is a pretty good daily moisturizer, especially since it has a physical sunscreen that doesn't leave a noticeable white cast. Love the ingredients, especially the argan oil. This didn't irritate my sensitive skin at all, and was perfectly hydrating for the dry winter air.
However, it does feel heavy on the skin; you can sort of feel it sitting on your skin when you first put it on. This is fine for the winter, but I wouldn't use it in the summer or any time you're planning on being active; you will suddenly feel your moisturizer on your face!
So: good moisturizer for winter (or extremely dry skin), not recommended for summer or sweaty activity.

Top of EWGs safe SPF cosmetic list
This product was one of the Environmental Working Groups (EWG) higher rated moisturizers with SPF, so I bought it. It is a great product as far as the after-effect it has on my skin: supple, moisturized but not oily, not sticky, no fragrance - great, balanced skin moisturizer. You use very little of the cream itself (maybe a little more than a pea-size) since a little spreads very well on the face.
The ONLY thing I dislike about it (no, it's not the price because it lasts a long time) is the first 10minutes after I apply it to my face (after a shower and towel dry), it just makes me sweat - no, not oil, just lots and lots of sweat beads on my forehead, cheeks, nose and upper lip. It can be very annoying, but once I wipe it away, the remaining cream that has been absorbed feels excellent. Maybe it is too thick for my pores? not sure. Honestly, I'm willing to try another version of their brand to see if a lighter creme will not make me sweat so much.. but this is still a great product.
