Eden Foods Arame Sea Vegetable Description

EDEN® Arame grows wild off the coast of Ise (eesay), Japan an environmentally protected area. Carefully selected, tender fronds are hand harvested each summer, sun dried, cooked for five hours to tenderize, and thinly sliced before final drying. EDEN Arame is an excellent choice for introducing friend to sea vegetables. It's easy to prepare and has a mild flavor and pleasing texture.


Directions

To Prepare: Soak for 5 minutes in cold water and drain. Add to soups, stews and casseroles, or saute with vegetables. For salads and marinated dishes, boil for 10 minutes before adding. Cooked and chopped arame can also be used to make stuffed mushrooms, and grain, tofu, or tempeh burgers.

 

Sauteed Arame:

  • 2 cups EDEN Arame, soaked
  • 1 Tablespoon EDEN Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen sweet corn
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 teaspoons EDEN Shoyu, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup scallions, chopped for garnish

Heat oils in a skillet and saute onion for 3 minutes. Add carrot, arame, corn and water. Cover, bring to boil and simmer 15 minutes. Add shoyu soy sauce, cook 5 minutes longer and garnish. Serves 4.

Great quality I have been trying to get more iodine (and other minerals) into my diet, and seaweed is an excellent way to do this. Arame is easy to use: just a quick soak, then mix with rice vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger for a tasty seaweed salad. I'm pleased with the quality of Eden Foods arame. The price is a little higher than I would like, but I have not been able to find another brand that matches the quality. March 20, 2015

great product Loaded with trace minerals. I like this sea vegetable due to the size of the pieces. This way is less fishy tasting. Here is a great recipe to use it in. Raw Food Recipe - Cucumber Arame Salad 1.5 Oz of Arame 4 cucumbers, peeled and very thinly sliced 2 tsp. sea salt 1 red pepper, diced 1 small red onion, diced 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar 2 Tbsp unrefined oil pinch of pepper Soak arame for 15 mins in enough water to cover. Sprinkle sea salt on cucumbers and let set for several minutes to release juices. Discard soaking water from arame. Chop arame and add to cucumbers. Add all other ingredients and toss! :) June 16, 2009
