Widely regarded as the finest rice in the world, Basmati becomes even better when it is aged - and the Basmati is aged or months to produce an extremely long, tender, and fluffy aromatic grain. When cooked, the rice expands dramatically and its exquisite fragrance and nutlike flavor are released. The Heritage Select® Basmati rice pilafs are great side dishes and are excellent on their own, when you want to enjoy an incomparable bowl of rice. Rice is naturally nutritious and Basmati ranks at the top of the list among all types of rice for being rich in amino acids and other essential nutrients, including niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamine.


Directions

Stove Top:

  1. Rinse rice in water to remove starch (Optional: For extra fluffy rice, let stand in water for 15 minutes.)
  2. Measure 1 ½ cups of water into a saucepan and add 1 tablespoon of butter (optional).
  3. Put on stovetop and add the rice and contents of spice packet and stir. Bring to a boil.
  4. When water is bubbling, cover with lid and reduce heat to simmer. Cook on simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Fluff rice lightly with fork before serving.

Microwave:

  1. Rinse rice in water to remove starch (Optional: For extra fluffy rice, let stand in water for 15 minutes.)
  2. In round 2-quart microwaveable glass casserole, combine rice, contents of spice packet, 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of butter (optional).
  3. Cover; microwave at High 21-24 minutes or until most of water is absorbed.
  4. Let stand, uncovered, about 5 minutes or until all water is absorbed.
  5. Fluff rice lightly with fork before serving.
