Need better flavor I started using this because it came in Chocolate/Peanut Butter flavor. They quit making that flavor, so I am looking for a replacement. It is not that much different than other brands in quality. February 17, 2010

Excellent flavor protein drink Not only is the Iron-Tek Micell Edge Double Chocolate Fudge an excellent flavor requiring no extras to make it pallatable, but it helps curb those awful cravings which cause some of us to turn to junk foods. Also, ordering through VitaCost was a smooth process and we received the products quickly. When one container had been damaged in shipping, the replacement product was shipped immediately. Micellar Casein Protein Blend

Micell Edge™ contains a natural, proprietary blend of the complex proteins alpha and beta micellar casein plus whey protein isolate. The unique protein structures found in micellar casein occur in mother's milk and are ideal for supporting muscle. Unlike many other protein sources that have a faster rate of digestion such as whey protein, micellar casein has a slower rate of digestion. When complexed with whey protein isolate, a highly absorbable source of di-, tri- and quadro-peptides, alpha-lactoglobulin and immunoglobulin, the result is perfected support for muscle.

One Size Does Not Fit All

Different protein sources feature different size peptides and varying complexities of molecular structure. These differences in size and structure translate into varying digestion rates in the human digestive system. The caseins found in Micell Edge are among the more complex proteins found in milk. This results in slower absorption of the lean muscle supporting peptides. Some proteins are ideal for post workout recovery such as the small peptides found in whey protein isolate and some whey protein concentrates. Other proteins are best used during long intervals between feedings (such as nightly rest) where slow release is preferred to rapid digestion. Micellar casein is the best choice for slower digestion of active peptides.
