Kal Pure Stevia Organic -- 2.5 oz
Make Stevia easier to use
I found information on how to make a liquid sweetener from dried, organic stevia. I am excited so I will purchase the Vitacost brand and then make my liquid: You can make a water based Stevia Extract by combining 1/4 oz dried whole or crushed Stevia leaves or 1/4 oz ground leaves with 1 cup of boiling distilled water. Allow to stand overnight, strain, then store in the refrigerator.
You can also make an alcohol based extract using pure USP grain alcohol (or Brandy or Scotch.) Combine the dried whole, crushed or ground Stevia leaves with the alcohol and allow the mixture stand for 24 hours. Strain & then dilute to taste using distilled water. The alcohol content itself can be reduced by very slowly heating (not boiling) the extract & allowing the alcohol to evaporate off.
Water extracts will not be a sweet as the alcohol extracts. Either liquid extract can be cooked down & concentrated into a syrup. Use a dropper to measure out the desired amount of product for either type of extract.

Not sure why but...
I had high expectations for this Stevia after reading the Kal Stevia reviews on Vitacost. Being one to usually favor foods in their rawest form, I chose the raw organic over the organic extract. When it arrived, I was fascinated by the green color, as I've never seen Stevia in any other color than white. Nevertheless, I couldn't wait to try it...what a disappointment! I love veggies, but this Stevia has a distinctly green taste, which I don't care for in my coffee, oatmeal, quinoa, etc. I'll try the Kal Stevia organic extract next time, but I don't recommend the raw version as instead of just being a sweetener, it adds a 'greeen' flavor to anything you put it in. Also did not seem to be as concentrated as other pure Stevia I have used.

This is my favorite stevia. Love it in my tea.

No reason to buy or use this product.
I bought this product to sweeten my black organic coffee, and it gave to no sweetness at all. From the container it tastes sweet with no after taste but once put in hot coffee no effect at all. No reason to buy this product, just drink coffee black. Kal Pure Stevia (white powder) way better product.

Do not use as a sweetener!
I bought this thinking it would taste just as good as the white powder. I was wrong. I had to throw the whole thing away. It is not effective as a sweetener. The taste is horrible and the stevia did not dissolve.
