Laughing Giraffe Organics Snakaroons Gluten Free Lemon -- 6 oz
Laughing Giraffe VS Emmy's Lemon Macaroons
I like doing side-by-side taste tests, and I LOVE macaroons, so when I saw that both Emmy's and Laughing Giraffe Organics had a lemon macaroon offering, I thought, WHY NOT? (I did a similar comparison for their chocolate macaroons as well). Here are my findings....
Both cookies have a nice chew and are not overly sweet.
Emmy's macaroon is flatter in shape and slightly smaller than the Laughing Giraffe's (LG) version. Three macaroons come in a pack, and mine weighted exactly 1.88 oz total (a little short of the 2 oz stated on the package). Not good when the cookies cost 97 cents each, but its only .13 oz, right? Still, a little generosity would have been nice. More important though is that Emmy's macaroons have a nice texture and moistness. They are denser than the LG cookie and have slightly more chew. The lemon flavor really comes though, helped, no doubt by the ginger, which is very subtle in this cookie. No funny bitter or "boxie" flavor that their chocolate macaroon suffered from. Would like a little more coconut flavor, but overall, a nice cookie.
The LG macaroons do not have the ginger and have hardly any lemon or coconut flavor. l will finish the bag eventually, and I would not be embarrassed to offer them to my friends, but I will not buy them again due to their lack of flavor, cost, and the fact that they are a little dry and crumbly. Eight macaroons come in a bag so they cost 93 cents each, and (all together) they weighed 6.2 oz, which is just over the 6 oz indicated on the bag, To buy them again, I'd need a moister cookie and either more lemon and/or coconut flavor. However, they don't have any off-flavors and if you like a mild, slightly sweet, slightly dry cookie to go with your coffee or tea, you might like the Giraffe Lemon Snakaroons.
