Lundberg Long Grain Brown Rice Description

• A Premium Long Grain Rice

This California-grown brown rice is famous for its full flavor and nutrition. It is a natural whole grain rice with nothing but the husk removed. Yields a drier, fluffy product. Multiple uses including stuffings, pilafs, casseroles, salads, stir fry.


Directions

• 1 cup Lundberg® long grain brown rice
• 2 cups water or broth
• 1 tbsp. butter (optional)
• salt to taste
Put all ingredients in a pot with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 50 minutes. Do not remove lid. Remove from heat and allow to sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork. A rice cooker may be used with the same water-to-rice ratio. Yield: 3 cups.

It's rice There's not a whole lot to say about rice... especially something as simple as long grain brown rice. I've found it cooks fine if you boil 2 parts water to 1.25 parts rice. So 4 cups of water would have 2.5 cups of uncooked rice. I also put in a little bit of salt and oil during the initial cooking process. I enjoy this rice and have even dealt directly with the company on occasion (pleasant people). If you're looking for good simple rice look no further. August 15, 2013
Very course This rice is actually delicious when it is cooked correctly, which took me some time to figure out. The only way I can actually get this rice done, having tried numerous cooking times and pots of various materials is to use my pressure cooker. I don't know what the problem is but it is really annoying to have to break that out every time I cook this rice. March 26, 2013
