Montebello Kitchens 1642 Salted Virginia Peanuts Original Description
Tracing the peanut to its origin inspires a global journey. History shows that peanuts have been around since the Incan Empire. Peanuts, along with black-eyed peas, yams and other crops, are thought to have been brought to America by the Portuguese slave traders who served peanuts while they were in transit. Of particular interest to folks in Charlottesville, Virginia is that Thomas Jefferson cultivated an impressive peanut crop at Monticello.
