Whether it's a busy weeknight or a special occasion, rice pilafs are a perfect complement to any meal.  Pilaf is

typically a blend of rice, spices and orzo pasta.  Pilafs can also have ingredients added such as other grains,

nuts, fruits, vegetables, meat or seafood -- the variations are as endless as your creativity!  Each Near East®

Pilaf comes with a separate packet containing a unique blend of herbs, spices and other special ingredients to

create an authentic flavor from around the world!


Range Top: 1. In medium saucepan, bring 2 cups water, 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil just to a boil. 2. Stir in grains and contents of spice sack. Return to a boil. 3. Cover; reduce heat to Low. Simmer 32 to 37 minutes or until most of water is absorbed. 4. Fluff lightly with fork before serving. Makes 3 cups.

Microwave: 1. In round 2 qt. microwaveable glass casserole, combine wheat, contents of spice sack, 2 1/3 cups water & 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil. 2. Cover; microwave at High 33 to 35 minutes or until most of water is absorbed. 3. Let stand about 5 minutes or until all water is absorbed. 4. Fluff pilaf lightly with fork before serving. Microwave ovens may vary. Adjust times as needed.

High Altitude Preparation: Increase water to 2 1/3 cups. Low Fat: Follow package directions, except omit butter or olive oil and add additional 3 tbs water.
