Old Wessex Organic Irish Style Oatmeal -- 18.5 oz
I love this oatmeal! It is organic and good tasting. I only cook it for half the time (3 minutes) to make sure its nice and chewy and use almond milk instead of water. In a bowl I have placed the following: vegan protein powder from Dr. Mercola (or his whey powder), nuts, maca, mesquite and sometimes raw cacao powders, coconut shreds and chia seeds. I pour in the oatmeal once lightly cooked over the powders then top it with fresh fruit (strawberry, blueberry or nectarine), organic coconut milk, oil or butter and almond milk. This wholesome meal tastes most excellent after my workout and is my lunch on most days. If travelling I can't wait to home get home to my lunch oatmeal. There is a line of thought that says you should eliminate grains from your diet. I certainly make an exception for this oatmeal just in case the "grain" people are right. Also I like having a more balanced diet these days which can include some grains and potatoes.

Delicious and tastes fresh; no doubt because it is organic. I highly recommend Old Wessex Iris Style Oatmeal.

Rolled oats, not steel cut....
I expected steel cut oats, which is what I consider "Irish" oats to be. I did cook up one batch for breakfast, and ordered the steel cut oats like I really wanted. They were creamy, quick cooking and I'm sure just fine for rolled oat eaters. I'll use mine up in oatmeal cookies, or apple crisp. I just prefer the steel cut in the winter time to slow cook on my woodstove.

Really like the taste and texture of this oatmeal.
One thing to remember -- if you are going to cook it in the microwave, cooking times vary greatly. What they suggest on the box is way too much ...... I tried the low end of their range and got an oatmeal explosion !
PS great for extra chewy and more flavorful ( light nutty taste) Oatmeal cookies.
