Organic Valley Organic Nonfat Dry Milk -- 12 oz
100% organic nonfat dry milk. Nothing more.
I like that this product is pure. What is inconvenient is that it won't mix like the processed artificial dry milks you might be used to. So you have to be more strategic in it's uses. For example, if you think you are going to mix into water easily and make instant milk... well it takes bit longer to mix in because it doesn't have the 'detergents' added to it. Also, don't even think about adding it to your hot coffee in place of creamer (which I really wanted as a healthy substitute). It will immediately turn into coagulated jelly-like chunks as the proteins start to cook (kind of like what corn starch does). So it should be mixed cold or lukewarm. BEST USES: mix into recipes with other dry ingredients and it works better. I LOVE IT with cold and hot cereals as my milk substitute (great if your power is out or you are out of milk). But you must mix it into the cereal and coat it well before adding water. This helps it mix much better. I mix it into my oatmeal and when I add the hot water there is no problem with the jelly balls. : )

Great for making thicker yogurt, but that's it
I didn't find this milk to be any better tasting than the other marketed brands of powdered milk. Though I wish there was cheaper, I couldn't get out for awhile so I ordered this and used it for yogurt. Tastes okay, but nothing to write home about.

excellent product! tastes like fresh milk
I usually mix 25g of dry milk with 150ml-200ml water. It really tastes like fresh milk. It is creamy and not like non-fat dry milk at all . I use it for oatmeal, coffee and baking.

I make my own yogurt and find if I add a little powdered milk it gives me a thicker yogurt. I had a hard time finding an organic powdered milk until I searched Vitacost. I am super happy with this product and that I can get it at Vitacost at a reasonable price.

great for making greek yogurt
I add this to the milk to be cultured for greek yogurt. Makes the yogurt nice and think. Blends fine with a whisk.
