Recognize his or her own name
Communicate through sound
Copy different syllables and sound combinations
Phone of my own: Push buttons to discover a variety of sounds. • By pressing button light will illuminate; this is a cause and effect learning.
Interaction idea: Place a call to baby using her phone. • Have a conversation passing the phone back and forth. • Show her how to push the buttons to hear words and sounds.
Developmental insight: Using "baby talk" or simple repetitive, high-pitched speech when communicating with your infant actually helps him to distinguish words from parts of words.
