| Description: Lysine is an essential amino acid that is needed for all proteins. It is necessary for growth and bone development in children. In adults, it aids calcium absorption and helps the body to maintain a proper nitrogen balance. Lysine is needed in the production of antibodies, hormones, enzymes, and muscle protein. It also is needed for collagen formation and tissue repair. Lysine has been shown effective in the treatment and healing of cold sores.1 A dose of 500 mg three times daily, starting at the first sign of a cold sore, is recommended. Natural Sources: Meats, Dairy Products, Legumes. Useful in treatment of: cold sores. Recommended Dosage: 500 mg three times daily for therapeutic effects.
