Phyllanthus niruri
Description: Phyllanthus niruri, also called "stonebreaker" due to its strong roots, is native to South America. The plant is dried into an extract that acts as a diuretic and an astringent.
Phyllanthus is believed helpful in treating edema, anorexia, jaundice, and diabetes.
Phyllanthus may help decrease the amount of hepatitis B virus found in the blood stream.
1 It does not remove all of the virus, however, and should not be considered a cure.2 It appears that the variety Phyllanthus urinaria is more effective as a treatment than the variety Phyllanthus amarus.3

Useful in treatment of: hepatitis.

Recommended Dosage: Not established.

Contraindications: None.
