| Siberian Ginseng |
| Description: Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus), commonly known as Siberian Ginseng, has a long history of use in Chinese medicine. It was used to prevent respiratory infections and to provide energy. The active constituents of Siberian Ginseng are the eleutherosides.1 Seven have been identified, but only two have been the subject of in-depth research.2 By supporting healthy adrenal gland function, Siberian Ginseng helps the body to adapt to stress.3 Siberian Ginseng is often used by athletes, as they generally have an energizing effect. No studies of its specific role in athletics have been done, however. No herbs have specifically been studied in the treatment of Fibromylagia. However, since many of the symptoms and difficulties associated with Fibromylagia are also seen in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the same herbs may be effective in treatment. These include Licorice root (should not be used by heart patients), Asian ginseng, and Siberian ginseng. Useful in treatment of: Athletics and Sports, Fibromylagia. Recommended Dosage: 300 to 400 mg daily. Take daily for six weeks, then take a two week break. Contraindications: May cause diarrhea or insomnia. Do not take if high blood pressure is present.
