| Vitamin K |
| Description: Vitamin K (Phylloquinone) is needed for bone formation and blood clotting. It performs these functions by helping the body to transport calcium. Deficiencies are rare, but can lead to uncontrolled bleeding. Vitamin K, needed for bone formation, is often deficient in osteoporosis patients.1 Supplementation of 1 mg daily can prevent some calcium loss.2 Natural Sources: Leafy Green Vegetables. Useful in treatment of: osteoporosis. Recommended Dosage: 65 to 80 mg daily. Contraindications: May interfere with anticoagulants and blood thinners. References: 1Hart JP.
