| Description: Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is an American herb which has both astringent and corticoid properties. Its bark and leaves are used to create a lotion or tea which can be applied topically or taken internally. It is an effective facial cleanser, especially when ache is present. Witch hazel can also be applied to bruises, burns, and sprains to promote healing. Witch hazel applied topically is an effective treatment for the pain associated with hemorrhoids.1 Witch Hazel, applied as an ointment several times daily for two weeks can help combat the swelling and pain of varicose veins.2 Useful in treatment of: hemorrhoids, varicose veins.
