Yohimbe
Description: Yohimbe (Pausinystalia yohimbe) is an African tree whose bark has been used historically to treat fevers, coughs, and leprosy. It also acts as an anesthetic. More recently, it has been used recreationally as an aphrodisiac and a hallucinogen.
The alkaloid yohimbine is the major constituent of yohimbe. It blocks certain nervous system receptors,
1 treats depression, and can be used to counteract male impotence.2
Yohimbe show potential in the treatment of depression, especially when serotonin reuptake inhibitors (Prozac, etc) are ineffective.

Useful in treatment of: depression.

Recommended Dosage: 15 to 30 mg daily.

Contraindications: May cause dizziness, nausea, insomnia, or anxiety. Should not be taken if kidney disease or peptic ulcers are present. Not safe during pregnancy.
Should not be taken with antidepressants, except under the supervision of a medical provider.
