Roasted Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower Seeds may be roasted with or without a pretreatment that salts the seed inside the shell.
For salted seeds, wash seeds and put in a salt water solution (dissolve 2-3 tablespoons Shiloh Farms Sea Salt in one quart of hot water). let stand overnight. After soaking, drain seeds and pat dry with paper towels. Spread evenly on baking sheets. Roast in 300F oven, approx. 30-40 minutes.
For unsalted seeds, wash seeds, drain and pat dry with paper towels. Spread evenly on baking sheets. Roast in 300F oven, approx. 20-25 minutes.*
*Stir sees frequently while roasting.
For buttered or flavored seeds, toss war seeds with melted butter after removing from oven. Use about 1 tsp. butter for each cup seeds. For added flavors, try adding onion powder, garlic powder or chili powder to melted butter, or add to water solution before roasting.
