Spectrum Organic All Vegetable Shortening -- 24 oz
My husband and I use this product exclusively in all our baking needs. It makes wonderful pie crusts, breads, desserts. It's really a nice product.

I use this in pie crust and other baking as an alternative to yucky Crisco. It works well and is organic!

Not Thrilled About the Expiration Date
The product is usually great, smooth, flavorless, and easy to substitute for shortening in recipes. I've gotten it before many times.
My last order, I ordered 8 of these. The expiration date was less than a year away. (The shelf life for palm oil should be much longer. Previous orders of the same product had much longer expiration dates, so this was obviously an old batch.) The first tub I opened had apparently melted previously and was harder than I'm used to, and of an inconsistent texture. Haven't opened the other tubs yet, but definitely not of the quality I've come to expect. However, that said, the batch of donuts I was frying seemed to come out fine.

I love this shortening in every respect - goodbye Crisco! I use a bread machine and make a lot of bread with shortening as an ingredient. I think the bread turns out even better with the Spectrum! Haven't found a Canadian supplier yet, but maybe I'll stick with Vitacost because their service is great and they have been so helpful

100% mechanically pressed palm oil - Fantastic!
Love this product! It is the only vegetable oil I have found that is solid at room temperature without hydrogenation and adds no flavor to your dish! When I want flavor, I use Ghee or Coconut Oil, but there are times when these flavors are not desired. It is also a nice soft texture at room temperature, so it is easy to blend into flours.
