If you're an olive lover, then you must try these.
These are one of the best black olives I've ever eaten. The taste
is so fresh, with a slightly strong taste, that I like- not like the commercially canned ones which are softer and can have an off taste. I believe those are processed with lye, and since I avoid chemical additives in my food whenever possible, I am happy to know that Sunfood makes quality products.
If you're familiar with the dried and wrinkled black olives that you might find at the deli counter- I believe they're a Greek olive- then
these are similar.
Since they're not seasoned or packed in oil, you can add your
own seasonings, like salt, olive oil and vinegar, or eat them right from the bag. They are very firm and take well to cooking in a dish, as I did with chicken and lemon.
But I did take some and put them into a jar with olive oil, apple cider vinegar and a little salt. They developed a nice taste, and I thought it would preserve them but they did get a lot softer. That's fine to put them into a salad or to use on an appetizer plate with cheese, etc.
You can experiment - either way they're very tasty and filling, as an addition to any salad or recipe.
